What’s on in June 2022

June is here. Long days on the beach followed by even longer evenings of summer parties – not to mention a selection of great events – there’s plenty of ferias and fiestas to keep you busy throughout the Axarquia.

The highlight of the month is, undoubtedly, San Juan with celebrations being held up and down the coast on 23rd June.

Food

Ruta de la Tapa in Competa: 15th – 18th June

Dia de la Cereza in Alfarnate: 25th June

A day dedicated to celebrate the cherry trees and high quality cherries grown locally in Alfarnate. You can enjoy cherry tasting and other traditional foods.

Market stalls open from 12pm following with music throughout the day.

Fiestas

Romeria San Isidro in Comares: 10th – 12th June

Romeria San Antonio in Torrox: 10th – 12th June

Friday 10th – From 23.00hrs party for teenagers.

Saturday 11th – Starting at 12.00 pm with water party.
From 19.00hrs Dance exhibition, kids party and plenty of music throughout the day.

Sunday 12th – 10.30hrs Romeria from Calle Jose Ariza
From 14.45hrs blessing of bread, followed by ribbon race on horses at 18.00 pm accompanied with music and dancing until late.

Feria de San Antonio in Alfarnate: 10th – 13th June

Fiestas de San Antonio in Iznate: 10th – 12th June

Friday 10th – Orchestra Meditarraneo, eleccion of king and queen of the feria, following more music.

Saturday 11th – From 10.00hrs Parade with king and queen of the feria with music from municipal band.
12.00hrs – Holy mass in the honor of San Antonio de Pauda
21.00hrs – Procession through the streets accomanied with the municipal band.
From 23.00hrs music until early hours of the morning.

Sunday 12th – 14.00hrs Feria celebrations throughout the day.

Feria San Antonio in Frigiliana: 10th – 13th June

Friday 10th – 21.30hrs Switching on the feria lights.
From 22.00hrs eleccion of king and queen of the feria.
1.00hrs music until early hours of the morning by DJ Elias Moreno.

Saturday 11th – From 10.00hrs Music, picnic and lots of entertainment throughout the day until late.
Free concert by Chema Rivas at 1.30hrs.

Sunday 12th – Race of Autos Locos starts at 12.00hrs.
From 14.30hrs day feria with music and entertainment for everyone.

Monday 13th – Starting 11.30hrs with a mass in honour of patron.
From 12.30hrs Romeria walk, music and celebration until late.
